Tianjin Induction Wuxi project (600KW 200kHz)sheet steel melting equipment has completed installation and commissioning, and officially put into operation.

Project features and advantages:

Tianjin Induction Wuxi sheet steel melting equipment is the first set of completely independent intellectual property rights of high-power SiC solid state high frequency power supply in China, with leading technology, filling the domestic technological gap and solving the "neck-locked" technology.

Technical features of this projectis the silicon carbide drive power supply with high power and independently developed by our company. Through technology research and development, has solved the inherent problem of uneven current distribution in devices, small internal resistance of silicon carbide, and uneven current distribution in parallel connections. The measured current unevenness on site does not exceed 10%. The control technology is advanced, with perfect protection measures, such as phase detection and short circuit protection. The power module of this power supply adopts a modular design concept, which is convenient for maintenance. This power supply saves about 7% electricity compared to traditional silicon devices. For the 600KW equipment running for 7,000 hours one year, it’ll save 180,000 yuan in electricity bills per year! Also reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 282 tons per year.

Project background and application:

The client of this project is a well-known domestic tinplate (tin-plated sheet) production enterprise in Wuxi, with an annual output of over 300,000 tons. Main products are various types of tinplate, and most of the products are exported to international market. The products are widely used in the food and beverage industry, such as aerosol cans, canned food, and so on.

Tinplate is a cold rolled thin steel sheet that is coated with a layer of extremely thin metal tin on both sides. It combines the hardness and strength of steel with the weld ability, corrosion resistance, and glossy appearance of tin. Tinplate has the advantages of being tasteless, non-toxic, lightweight, and easy to process and shape. Printing different patterns can also beautify products, so it has been widely used in industries such as food canning, electronic devices, and chemical paints.

There are many problems in the production of tinplate in our country, such as low production capacity of tin-plated substrates, few manufacturers with production capacity and uneven industrial layout, and low product quality. At present, it cannot meet market demand, but there is great potential for future development.

The key process in the production of tin-plated steel sheets is the soft melting of tin-plated strips. Currently, the main method for improving this process involves a combination of resistance heating and high-frequency induction heating (with the frequency 100-200kHz) for soft melting.

Project implementation:

A customer in Wuxi has chosen our company's latest research and development product of SiC solid state high frequency induction soft melting equipment, used for its tin-plated steel production line. Compared with the previous silicon-based high frequency soft melting equipment, the SiC solid state high frequency equipment uses new third generation semiconductor-SIC MOSFET power device, which has the advantages of high voltage resistance, high thermal conductivity, and low loss, especially suitable for high frequency and high power applications. The customer uses SiC solid state high frequency soft melting equipment, the product tin-plated steel thickness of 0.2~0.38mm, width of 760~970mm, speed of 120~250 meters/min, with annual production capacity of 400,000 tons. Through the close cooperation of our company's sales and technical personnel with customers, the process flow and product design plan were jointly formulated to ensure the high quality and efficient completion of the product. As the first roll of tin-plated steel rolled off the line, it marks the successful operation of China's first set of 600kW SiC solid state high frequency induction soft melting equipment.
